Court of Appeal Set to Deliver Decision

The legal fraternity and fans will know the fate of Dancehall star Vybz Kartel this week when the Court of Appeal delivers the long-awaited decision on whether or not to retry him and his co-accused for murder.

Overturned Conviction

Vybz Kartel's conviction for murder was overturned in 2021, and he has been awaiting a decision on a possible retrial since then. Justice Marva McDonald-Bishop will deliver the decision this week.

Life Sentence

Vybz Kartel, whose real name is Adidja Palmer, was given a life sentence in 2014 for the murder of Clive "Lizard" Williams. However, his conviction was overturned by the Court of Appeal in 2021 due to errors in the trial process.

Co-Accused

Vybz Kartel is not the only one awaiting the court's decision. His co-accused, Shawn "Shawn Storm" Campbell, Kahira Jones, and Andre St. John, are also facing possible retrials.
