Arsenal Star Among Six Premier League Players Forced To Take Refuge In Dressing Room As Ghana Fans Riot

Arsenal star among six Premier League players forced to take refuge in dressing room as Ghana fans riot...

Ghanaian fans stormed the pitch at the end of their World Cup play-off defeat to Uruguay, forcing Arsenal star Thomas Partey and five other Premier League players to take refuge in the dressing room.

Partey was one of several Arsenal players attacked by Uruguay fans last Thursday after the Gunners' 3-0 defeat against the South American side in a pre-season friendly in Orlando.

The incident happened after Ghana lost 2-0 to Uruguay in the second leg of their World Cup play-off in Kumasi.

The home fans were furious with the result, which saw Ghana eliminated from the World Cup, and they invaded the pitch at the end of the game.

The players were forced to run for cover, with Partey and five other Premier League players - Leicester's Daniel Amartey, Crystal Palace's Jordan Ayew, Southampton's Mohammed Salisu, Brighton's Tariq Lamptey and Brentford's Frank Onyeka - taking refuge in the dressing room.

The situation was eventually brought under control by police, but it was a frightening experience for the players involved.

Partey said he was "shocked" by the incident, and he called on the authorities to take action to prevent it from happening again.

"It was a very scary experience," he said. "I've never seen anything like it before.

"I just hope that the authorities will take action to make sure that this doesn't happen again."

The Ghana Football Association has condemned the violence, and it has promised to investigate the incident.

The incident is a reminder of the dangers that players face when playing in certain countries.

In 2019, a group of Arsenal players were attacked by fans in Baku after the Gunners lost to Chelsea in the Europa League final.

The players were left shaken by the incident, and it is clear that more needs to be done to protect players from violence.
