Manchester City 4-3 Real Madrid: Guardiola's side win thrilling Champions League semi-final first leg

Pep Guardiola's side took a slender advantage in their semi-final tie against Real Madrid, but the Spanish side will be confident of overturning the deficit in the second leg.

City were seemingly cruising to victory after taking a 4-2 lead with just over 20 minutes remaining, but Real Madrid produced a stunning comeback to score two late goals and snatch a draw.

The match was end-to-end from the start, with both teams creating chances. City took the lead after just 94 seconds when Riyad Mahrez converted a penalty, but Real Madrid equalised through Karim Benzema in the 33rd minute.

City regained the lead in the 53rd minute through Phil Foden, but Vinicius Junior equalised for Real Madrid just two minutes later. Bernardo Silva then put City back in front in the 74th minute, and Gabriel Jesus made it 4-2 in the 83rd minute.

However, Real Madrid refused to give up, and Rodrygo scored two goals in the space of two minutes to level the match. Benzema then scored a penalty in extra time to give Real Madrid the lead for the first time in the match.

City will take a slender lead to the Bernabeu for the second leg, but Real Madrid will be confident of overturning the deficit. The Spanish side have a wealth of experience in the Champions League, and they will be backed by a passionate home crowd in the second leg.
